Thanks for the question and excuse the late response, which I hope is still useful for the future. The ‘flu season in South Africa starts on average in late May, but can begin anytime from late April to early July. It usually lasts for about 3 months, but can linger for as long as 6 months. So if you haven’t had obvious ‘flu during the winter, it’s still worth getting the vaccine done anytime up to November, especially if it’s been a bad ‘flu season like 2024’s.

I have been avoiding the vaccine for my 2 year old on the advice of my Mom who believes there are bad side effects. Can I still give it now or is it too late in the season?
